Youth tournament dedicated to All-Russian Sambo Day was held in Verkhnyaya Pyshma

Contestants from Ekaterinburg, Nizhniy Tagil, Sukhoy Log reached the prize-list
Today, the All-Russian Sambo Day is celebrated in Russia. 83 years ago wrestling was included in the list of sports that had to be promoted and inculcated in the Soviet Union. Tribute to our national single combat sport was paid in Verkhnyaya Pyshma, where Sports School “Leader” (Baltym) hosted a regional tournament among boys aged 14-16. The participants competed for the medals in 10 weight categories. Uali Kurzhev, who represented UMMC Sambo Club (Verkhnyaya Pyshma), shortly before had won his fourth world champion title in Tashkent (Uzbekistan).
He was the sole representative of Sverdlovsk region at the international arena. In the final his opponent was Ulukbek Rakhmonov, the host of the tournament. Uali was quick to foresee his opponent intentions.
- Every competition brings back memories of my childhood," said Uali at the opening of the junior competition. – All of you are stepping to your own path. You will have many victories, good memories. I've been in the sport for 26 years and really there is a lot to remember.
The first All-Russian Sambo Day was celebrated in 2008, at the 70th year of sambo existence. The festivities were held as one big event - a sambo anniversary- on the Red Square in the capital of our Motherland.
Every region of the country has its own Sambo history, a unique and inimitable one! Their own founders, legends, traditions - everything that we can be proud of and need to show to the younger generation. So, the 16th November holiday was a perfect occasion to demonstrate the best experience that has been accumulated in sambo since its birth. The first event in 2009 that was held by the All-Russian Sambo Federation and the Ministry of Sports of Russia, involved 50 cities. This idea was picked up by every corner of the country, and the All-Russian Sambo Day almost instantly became popular and eye-catching.
