Traditional regional tournament in honour of world champions Ilya Khlybov and Konstantin Makhnyov held in Sukhoy Log (Sverdlovsk region)

The 20th regional tournament in honour of World Champions Ilya Khlybov and Konstantin Makhnyov was held at Sukhoy Log Sports School. The said champions started their sports carriers in this town.

Boys and girls of 12-14 years old were invited to the competition. The competition was opened by Viktor Igonin, Deputy Mayor, Leonid Putintsev, Executive Director of the Sambo Federation of Sverdlovsk region, who had also taken his initial steps in sambo in Sukhoy Log and then run the local Sports School, and was a honoree himself; Ilya Khlybov, a five-time world champion, who is now Assistant Coach at UMMC Sambo Club (Verkhnyaya Pyshma).

Total 120 participants representing 14 teams from various towns of Sverdlovsk Region took part in the tournament. Sambo male wrestlers from Nizhny Tagil shaped the fight and topped almost in all weight categories. The girls from Sukhoy Log were the strongest.
