Alina Melkozerova and Anastasiya Barabash were the strongest in their weight categories
Today, the Russian Championship among the youth of 16-18 years old started in Kstovo (Nizhny Novgorod region). The representatives of Sverdlovsk region gained first triumph.
Alina Melkozerova (44 kg) from Sukhoy Log Sports School and Anastasia Barabash (47 kg) from Ekaterinburg Sambo and Judo School took gold.
In addition to medals, wrestlers contested for promotion to European and World Championships. The winner will represent the country at the World Championship in Panagyurishte (Bulgaria) in October 14-16, and the runner-up will compete at the European Championship in Tallinn (Estonia) in April 15-17.
However, Anastasiya Barabash is only allowed to compete in Bulgaria, as the lightest weight up to 44kg is not permitted for these international competitions held under the aegis of the International SAMBO Federation (FIAS).
Alina Melkozerova started her final fight with Alyona Belousova (the Republic of Crimea) very actively and already in the second minute she won the fight using a painful arm lock.
Anastasia Barabash defeated in a tough struggle with Valeriya Shubchik (Amur region). The last 35 seconds were decisive, when Anastasiya performed a 4 point throw and took gold.
Four- day Russian Championship will be broadcast online on the website of the All-Russian Sambo Federation, from January 31 to February 3 beginning at 10.00 am (MSC) and ending with the finals and awarding ceremony.
