Anna Balashova (up to 80 kg) from UMMC Sambo club (Verkhnyaya Pyshma) made a bronze point in performance of the Sverdlovsk Region citizens in the European Sambo Championship and Competitions that ended the day before in Limassol (Cyprus). In her first duel, she yielded to the future finalist Galina Kovalskaya from Ukraine, but then she more than decently performed in the consolation part and trumped Romanian Lorena-Alexandra Podelenczki by a painful hold ahead of time in the fight for the third place.
Thus, the total number of medals won by the Sverdlovsk Region athletes at the European Championship and Competitions reached nine. None of our participants came home without a medal. And Yana Dzhumayeva (up to 59 kg) and Darya Rechkalova (up to 80 kg) among girls, Ekaterina Tsybert (up to 59 kg) and Ivan Lukanin (up to 79 kg) among juniors (all of them represent Sambo and Judo Sports School of the Olympic Reserve and "Rodina" Sports Club, Ekaterinburg) as well as Vladimir Gladkikh (up to 58 kg) from UMMC Sambo Club (Verkhnyaya Pyshma) among men, did it in the rank of winners.
