As a reminder, over 40 sambo athletes from Sverdlovsk region qualified for the Russian Sambo Championship. The backbone of the regional sambo team (more than 20 wrestlers) knuckled down to trainings in the training camp “Granatovaya bukhta” (Pomegranate cove) in the vicinity of Verkhnyaya Sysert, which has been hosting our all-aged teams for many years.

According to the training camp manager, Mikhail Sukhanov (head coach of UMMC Sambo Club from Verkhnyaya Pyshma), the training program appeared to be eventful and intensive: on weekdays, two a time mandatory trainings were held right on the mat; Wednesday and Saturday were designed to reduce the training load, and included physical games and evening sauna. A real day-off was only Sunday.

“During the first week, we intensified our training load to the maximum extent, with emphasis having been shifted to special needs and weight management of each athlete during the other 7 days”, added Sukhanov.

Just before heading for Kstovo, the youth met with President of the Sambo Federation of Sverdlovsk region, Shukhrat Kh. Makhmudov. He wished them luck and got them primed for victory.
