The winners of the World Championship in Greece have come home today

Friends, colleagues and fans greeted them at the Koltsovo airport
By tradition, our World Championship winners and one runner-up who returned from Greece were given a very warm welcome at the Koltsovo airport. As they left the arrivals hall, they were greeted with flowers, enthusiastic cheers and applause from their teammates, representatives of other clubs, young sambo wrestlers and the management of Sambo Federation of the Sverdlovsk Region.
Meanwhile, the heroes of the occasion themselves shared their thoughts on the tournament.
After the intense fights in Thessaloniki, the girls had almost a day's flight to Ekaterinburg, so it comes as no surprise that the World Championship winner Anastasia Trofimova admitted that her biggest wish was “to hurry home and go to bed.”
“The coach told me to “test her legs.” So I did it right at the beginning of the match and my opponent fell down,” said one of our gold medalists, Daria Rechkalova, revealing the secret of her lightning-fast undercut that gave her an early victory in the opening seconds of the final match. “To be honest, I did not expect it to go that fast, because the girl was strong.”
Ekaterina Tsybert, who won the World Junior Championship for the second time in a row, celebrated her birthday just before the tournament.
“I really wanted to give myself the most important gift and I did it,” says Ekaterina, holding the precious gold medal in her hands.
“When I lost in the final, I felt really bad,” said Kristina Dudina, a silver medalist at the Championship. “Of course, I came there to win a gold medal, not a silver one. Unfortunately, my opponent was able to read my moves so well that I could not make a single decent attack.”
There is not much time left for the girls to rest. There are more training sessions and qualifying rounds ahead of them, and they have to prepare for them with full dedication and responsibility, because we all know that the hardest thing for winners is to prove their worth over and over again.
