17.10.2022
They won a total of ten medals, including eight gold medals
Sverdlovsk region athletes performed more than worthy at the World Championships in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. We saw a great fight performed by our girls. Not only did they comprise more than half of our team competing at this age, but they all return home with nothing but top awards. Gold winners: Anastasia Barabash (under 47 kg), Kristina Dudina (under 50 kg), Anastasia Trofimova (under 54 kg), Valentina Stentsova (under 59 kg) and Milena Hilova (under 65 kg). All of them play for "Rodina" Sambo Club from Yekaterinburg.
Vagram Sargsyan from Verkhnyaya Pyshma UGMK Sambo Club was the only male representative of the Sverdlovsk region in the junior team. And he didn't let the team down, brilliantly winning in the category up to 58 kg. In the final bout, it only took Sargsyan a minute to defeat Kiyanyshbek Komekov from Kazakhstan. First, our athlete made a spectacular four-point throw to the back, and then finished the fight early with a "knee lever" submission.
In the World Junior Championship the athletes from "Rodina" Club were at the top again. Daria Rechkalova (up to 80 kg) and Olga Mikheeva (80+ kg) earn the titles of winners. Yana Dzhumaeva (up to 59 kg) took the silver medal. Their clubmate, strongman Roman Zheltov (over 98 kg) won the bronze medal in the junior competition.
By the way, it is worth mentioning that Daria Rechkalova, who continues to compete as a junior, won the adult national championship in Verkhnyaya Pyshma in February of this year.
Please be reminded, this year at international tournaments our national team performs under the flag of FIAS (International Sambo Federation).
