Happy Victory Day!

Dear veterans!  Dear fellow athletes!

On behalf of the Sambo Federation of the Sverdlovsk Region, I am delighted to extend my congratulations to you all on Victory Day, a sacred holiday, which is intimately dear to every fellow Russian citizen! No words can perfectly describe the magnitude of our people’s feat, who, at the cost of strenuous efforts, millions of lost lives, crippled destines and tortured souls, upheld freedom and independence of our Motherland, brought us the future and rid the world of the Nazi scourge 76 years ago.  

The further the victorious autumn of 1945 recedes into the past, the more carefully we should preserve, and pass on to posterity, the memory of a time of austerity and atrocities, and those who overcame all hardships and emerged victorious.

Our national sport (sambo), along with the whole country, stood up for the Motherland. Introduced shortly before the Great Patriotic War, this combat and martial art took the brunt with dignity. Thousands of sambists fought on the front lines, and sambo self-defense techniques steadily boosted morale and helped get the better of the enemy in the most significant and gory battles.

May the memory of the fallen on the battlefields of the Great Patriotic War last forever. Our deepest gratitude goes to veterans and workers on the home front, who can share the joy and the bane of this date with us. We are forever indebted to you. Happy Victory Day!
