We would like to express our gratitude to our athletes
The sambists of Sverdlovsk region were most successful by the medal count on the final competition day of Russian U24 Championship, which ended in Kstovo (Nizhny Novgorod Region) due to an exceptional merit of our girls from Yekaterinburg Sambo and Judo School of Olympic Reserve.
Ekaterina Tsybert (under 59 kg weight category) and Darya Rechkalova (under 80 kg weight category) became winners in their weight categories, and, besides, were qualified for participation in the European Cup this year. Olga Likhota and Ksenia Khismatullina won silver and bronze medals respectively in under 80 kg weight category, in which women sambists from Ekaterinburg secured almost the whole podium.
Ekaterina Tsybert in her final bout was losing to her opponent Anastasia Ivanova (Kazan) 0:1, but one minute before the end of the bout she used a painful arm-hold and snatched an early victory.
The final bout between two Ekaterinburg teammates Daria Rechkalova and Olga Likhota was quite exciting and probably the only “neck-to-neck derby” of the tournament. Obviously, the rivals knew each other inside out, but this did not prevent the slightly more experienced and titled Rechkalova from winning early victory through a clear advantage.
