Several people managed to qualify for the Russian Championship that will be held next year
Young sambists from the Sverdlovsk Region honorably performed in the neighboring Perm Krai where All-Russian youth competition in memory of Vasiliy Shvay, Honored Master of Sports of the USSR and World Champion was held among boys and girls born in 2004-2006 at Olympiyskiy Sports and Recreation Centre in Krasnokamsk.
Among boys, the highest result was achieved by Vakhram Sargsyan (Verkhnyaya Pyshma), who got the first place in the category of up to 64 kg. Ivan Mal’gin from the regional School of the Olympic Reserve (Ekaterinburg) became the second in the category of up to 58 kg. Bronze medals were won by Dmitriy Suslin (up to 53 kg) representing Nizhniy Tagil and Artem Dubrovin (up to 98 kg), pupil of Sambo and Judo Sports School of the Olympic Reserve (Ekaterinburg).
It is worth noting that in Perm tournament either winners or two finalists at a time, depending on the number of participants in a certain category, would win the right to participate in the championship of Russia which will be held in Balakovo, the Saratov Region, in February 2022. Hence, there was a very high competition among representatives of almost 30 regions of the country. To qualify for the finals, athletes had to go through 7-9 fights at least. For example, in the category of up to 64 kg there were 46 challengers at once. However, our Sargsyan and Mal’gin passed this difficult test with honor and both won cherished permits to the national championship.
The girls did not fail either. Alina Melkozyorova from Sukhoi Log became the winner in the category of up to 44 kg. The third here was Alyona Matveeva from Nizhniy Tagil. Bronze medals were on the account of Ekaterina Chenusha (up to 54 kg), representative of Sukhoi Log, Kseniya Shlimakova (up to 65 kg) from Nizhny Tagil and Kseniya Karayeva (up to 72 kg), another pupil of Sukhoi Log school.
Thus, as the gold winner, Alina Melkozyorova will make the company to Vagram Sargsyan and Ivan Mal’gin at the next year Russian championship.
