The first day of Russian FSIN (Federal Penitentiary Service) championships proved to be successful for the host team

The employees of the Sverdlovsk Region Main Directorate of the Federal Penitentiary Service (GUFSIN) won two gold, two silver and two bronze awards

Никулин-ФСИН-2021.jpg Today in Verkhnyaya Pyshma the sport sambo championship among men and women and combat sambo championship among men of Russian Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) started at UMMC Sports Palace. The competition will last from September 27 to 29, 2021. The tournament was opened by Alexander Fyodorov, Lieutenant General of Internal Service, Head of GUFSIN of Russia for the Sverdlovsk Region, Andrey Zyablitsev, Deputy Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of the Sverdlovsk Region, and Shukhrat Makhmudov, President of Sambo Federation of the Sverdlovsk Region.

In total, more than 50 teams of FSIN territorial bodies from 48 regions of Russia, from Yakutia to Kaliningrad, are taking part in the championship. The overall number of athletes exceeds 500 people.

On the first day men appeared on the mat in categories of up to 58 kg, up to 71 kg and up to 88 kg. Women competed in the weight of up to 50 kg, up to 59 kg and 72 kg. The start was successful for representatives of the Sverdlovsk Department of the Federal Penitentiary Service. Ivan Nikulin (up to 88 kg) won in men and Victoria Oster (up to 59 kg) – in women. Silver medals went to Yaroslav Sandin (up to 58kg) and Olga Titova (up to 50kg), with Ivan Panyukhin (up to 58kg) and Andrey Selivanov (up to 71kg) coming third.

Herewith Nikulin, Selivanov and Panyukhin are leading sambo wrestlers of UMMC Sambo Club (Verkhnyaya Pyshma), Olga Titova represents Ekaterinburg Sambo School, and Yaroslav Sandin, who is also a UMMC Sambo Club graduate, makes this sport popular in Kirovgrad these days.

It would be fair to mention two more gold medals of the Sverdlovsk Region athletes that belong to Vladimir Gladkikh (up to 58 kg), world champion and three-time European champion, and Evgeniy Sukhomlinov (up to 71 kg), champion of Russia. They represent UMMC Sambo Club of Verkhnyaya Pyshma, but they competed for the Volgograd Region Federal Penitentiary Service in the departmental tournament.
