The sambists from Sverdlovsk region bagged three medals, two of them being gold, at the Belarus Open European Cup for the prizes of the President, held in Minsk.

At the men’s competition the team from the Middle Urals was exclusively represented by the "favorites": Sergey Kuznetsov (U98 kg weight category), a winner of the Russian U24 National Championship held this year, and Anton Brachev (+98 kg weight category), a winner of the Russian Cup 2021. Both athletes from UMMC Sambo Club (Verkhnyaya Pyshma) are returning home with a new trophy. Fragile Ekaterina Khasanova from Sambo and Judo School of Olympic Reserve (Yekaterinburg) is leaving with a bronze medal in U50 kg weight category.

Sergey Kuznetsov forced his opponent, 2016 World Champion Patu Gviniashvili from Georgia, to admit his defeat in the gold medal bout already at the 30th second of the fight by making a knee lever painful hold. While Anton Brachev won a victory over the much stronger Georgian sambist Georgi Zakariadze with a score1:0 in a very tough final fight.
