Seven medals were won by the Sverdlovsk Region sambo wrestlers at Russian Student Championship

The All-Russian competitions among students in memory of E. Chumakov, Honored Coach of the USSR, Professor and Sambo ideologist, took place in Kstovo, the Nizhniy Novgorod Region. In total, over 200 athletes from 64 universities of the country took part in the Championship.

Representatives of UMMC Sambo Club (Verkhnyaya Pyshma) performed more than decently at this tournament. Alexey Ivanov and Gleb Poznakhirko, students of Shadrinsk State Pedagogical University, became winners in categories of up to 58 and 98 kg respectively and helped their home university to get the lead in the team event. And Artem Sorochenkov, student of Saratov State University n.a. N.G. Chernyshevsky won a bronze medal in the weight of up to 64 kg.

Students of Ekaterinburg Sambo and Judo School of the Olympic Reserve also distinguished themselves. Vera Lotkova took the first place in the weight of up to 54kg defending the colors of Cheboksary State Pedagogical University. Kirill Ivanov won a silver medal in the category of up to 53 kg. Bronze medals went to Ekaterina Semyonova (up to 54 kg) and Alexey Shitov (up to 88 kg). All three are students of Russian State Professional Pedagogical University (Ekaterinburg).
